The colonial history of Kenya dates from the Berlin Conference of 1885, when the European powers first partitioned East Africa into spheres of influence. In 1895, the U.K. Government established the East African Protectorate and, soon after, opened the fertile highlands to white settlers. The settlers were allowed a voice in government even before it was officially made a U.K. colony in 1920, but Africans were prohibited from direct political participation until 1944.

Early European Interpretations – A Land Without People? The depiction of Africa’s landscape and its wildlife has an immense history. A free online article of the Focus on Africa magazine of particular interest to me was that by Gamal Nkrumah, published on 22 Jan 2007. In this article, Mr Gamal advised that the only way forward for Africa was a continental union as envisaged by his late farther Kwame Nkrumah, one of the founding fathers of pan-African politics. A free online aspect of BBC News by the economics reporter, Steve Schifferes with the question:'Why can't Africa tackle poverty?', also caught my attention. Mr Schifferes blamed African poverty to unfulfilled promises of monetary aid to Africa by developed countries.Unknown to Mr Gamal and Mr Schifferes, their suggestions will never be solutions to African disunity or poverty. The writer therefore suggests a final solution to African poverty and backwardness in the form of the creation of a STATE OF AFRICAN UNION .Once created, this will be an independent state within the African continent in which all peoples from all African nation as well as Africans in the Diaspora will be eligible citizens. This may sound impossible or considered as madness but we should not forget that Greek philosophers who first talked of democracy were considered as mad men and Galileo was also considered mad when he said the world was round rather than flat.

Probably the world’s most climbed mountain, Table Mountain stands proud in the middle of the city, dominating the surrounding landscape. And, although the cable car ride to the top should not be missed, there is so much more

Reforms in Sierra Leone’s economic and financial services sector are projected to largely fail unless the Sierra Leone-Lebanese economic power imbalance question is adequately addressed. This question revolves around the inordinate monopolistic economic stranglehold being exerted over all aspects of the society, by the Lebanese business community, as a result of their dominant economic power dating to the pre-independence era.
